Launch Of AIPP In Gabon

Libreville, Gabon – The International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) was inaugurated on Thursday 21 September 2017 in Gabon, West Africa. About 150 guests attended. Among them there was 90 parliamentarians, 28 of whom have been appointed peace ambassadors. The event was held at the National Assembly of Gabon in Palais Leon Mba. Among the participants was Mr. Idris Ngari, Second Vice-President of the National Assembly of Gabon. Mba Abessolo, 5th Vice-President of the National Assembly. Mrs. Maganga Moussavou, Vice President of Gabon.
The National Chairman of UPF gave welcome remarks and read the speech of Dr. Hak Ja Han on the establishment of IAPP. This was followed by a speech by the Honorable Abessolo, who presided over the opening ceremony and officially launched the IAPP staff. Then the secretary general of UPF Africa, Rev. Adama Doumbia gave a presentation on UPF's Peace Principles, its goals and expectations, and how to build peace starting with the family. He explained how different family relationships affect the social order and stressed the great importance of parliament as representatives of the population.
Rev. Doumbia's presentation was very well received, with one attendee commenting that he learned a lot and gained a better understanding of the role of Congress. After the presentation, some participants was then awarded the Peace Ambassador Certificate. Many were enthusiastic about the idea and purpose of the IAPP and supported the possibility of holding a similar ceremony in the Senate of Gabon.
When asked for the last words, the honorable Abessolo poetically summarized the event. "As parliamentarians and peace ambassadors, we are called upon to hold fast to our destinies and uplift our nations and Africa. That is our job." He concluded by thanking the UPF for this initiative and opportunity.
