Burkina Faso ― In October 2024, the Universal Peace Federation of Burkina Faso (UPF-BF) organized a public conference to promote peace and social cohesion. Themed “Promoting a Culture of Peace”, the event attracted a large audience of approximately 1,200 participants.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Diarra Thomas, Secretary General of UPF-BF, who emphasized the importance of the Ambassadors for Peace serving as role models. He encouraged them to live for the sake of others, promote peace, and inspire those around them. His message highlighted the need to cultivate peace at all levels—within families, society, and the nation—especially given the country’s challenges with social fractures exacerbated by terrorist activities.
Awarding New Ambassadors for Peace
The conference also included the presentation of Peace Ambassador certificates to nominees who had completed their training in September. Among the newly distinguished Ambassadors were prominent figures, including members of Parliament, defense personnel, media professionals, artists, prefects, and traditional leaders.
One of the distinguished honorees, Honorable Anatole Bonkoungou, delivered a congratulatory message, urging the new Ambassadors to join the network of Peace Ambassadors and embody the values taught by UPF.
Media Coverage
The event received significant media attention and was covered by BF1 Television, a prominent private channel in Burkina Faso.
