UPF-GHANA MEETS WITH GHANAIAN PARLIAMENT SPEAKERS

Accra, Ghana – UPF Ghana met with Mr Aaron Mike Oquaye, Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. The launch of International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) in Ghana was one of the main topic of discussion.

UPF Ghana secretary general Dr. Helen Mabel Osei, introduced members of her delegation to the meeting held in the Speakers' Conference Hall of the Parliament House. These included ambassadors, Osonga Nii Dr. Adjei Kraku III, leader of Tema Mantse and representative of the chiefs of Ghana. Professor Edwin Nmertey Korley, Principal of Manna Mission Theological College and representative of the UPF Global Peace Council. Pastor James Aidoo, Director of the Ghana Chapter of the Family Federation for Peace and Unity. and Rev. J.B. Mr Dankwa, Special Advisor to the UPF-Ghana Executive Committee, said: Also present was Bishop Ezekiel Goodman Anim, President of the Ghana Peace Ambassadors Network. John Yaw Osei, technical expert. Hon. Frank Husseini Adongo MP and Deputy Minister of Upper West Province, Dan Jim Selassie UPF-Ghana Media Chief.

In her remarks, Dr. Helen Osei called on Hon. Oquaye to facilitate the establishment of the IAPP, formed in more than 100 countries around the world, to underscore efforts to create the lasting peace needed for development. She also informed the Chair that the 2nd UPF Africa Summit will be held in her November 2018 in South Africa and will be hosted by the South African Government and the family of the late  President Nelson Mandela. She briefly express about Coffee Project for African Nations, attended by a group of African government and business leaders at a business conference held in Kona, Hawaii in December 2017.

At the end of the conference, UPF presented Speaker Ouke with a certificate of membership as an ambassador for peace, an award for exemplary leadership, and a medal from the Little Angels dance troop to recognize him for leading the Ghanaian government delegation to the first African summit in Dakar, Senegal.
