San, Mali ― In response to recent security challenges and devastating floods, the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Mali collaborated with local Peace Ambassadors to support affected communities, particularly in the San region, located 450 km from Bamako. Building on a 2022 family sensitization program that engaged 43 couples, UPF-Mali partnered with Mercy Corps in October 2024 to launch a pilot initiative across 10 villages.
The program addressed critical issues, including local governance, social cohesion, gender-based violence, and family support, with the goal of fostering "Model Husbands" and eventually "Model Couples" through active community engagement.
A total of 1,842 participants—including men, women, children, people with disabilities, and internally displaced persons (IDPs)—benefited from the initiative. The campaign's activities, supported by local village chiefs, reflected strong community involvement and a collective commitment to peace and development.
