Peace Road 2024 in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso The Peace Road 2024 event in Burkina Faso took place on Sunday, August 18, 2024, under the theme of promoting peace across the nation. The event was held at the City Hall in Ouagadougou and was presided over by Mr. Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The event was supported by several key figures, including His Majesty the Mogho Naaba Baongho, Mrs. Nandy SOME/DIALLO, the Minister of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, and the President of the Special Delegation (Mayor of Ouagadougou).

In his speech, the Minister emphasized the importance of fostering peace within families as a foundation for peace in the country. He encouraged extending the Peace Road initiative across the entire nation, even at the family level. Mrs. Honorine OUEDRAOGO, Technical Secretary for National Reconciliation, represented Minister Nandy SOME/DIALLO and delivered her message to the audience. The Mayor expressed his commitment to participating in future editions of Peace Road and other UPF activities.

Following these speeches, the dignitaries co-signed the Peace Road flag, symbolizing their commitment to the cause. The event was organized in collaboration with FFPMU, FFPM, IAYSP, and Tong-Il Moo-Do.

During the event, Reverend Danwéré SOU, UPF's sub-regional president for North Africa, presented the five principles of Ambassadors for Peace in front of the minister, the event's patron, the minister's sponsor and 45 other distinguished personalities, including a king, women's leaders, youth leaders, business leaders and religious leaders, who were honored as Ambassadors for Peace.

The event concluded with a parade of Ambassadors for Peace, accompanied by riders, marking the end of the 5th edition of the Peace Road in Burkina Faso. The whole ceremony was covered by RTB, the national public media.
