Peace Road Rally – Yaoundé, Cameroon

Yaoundé, Cameroon–The Peace Road Rally 2024 was organized by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Cameroon in collaboration with the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) Cameroon. This event honored the legacy of Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and promoted the Founders' vision of global peace.

The rally was held on August 25, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Participants marched from the Hôtel des Députés, passing through significant landmarks such as Boulevard du 20 Mai and Messe des Officiers, before concluding at the Monument de la Réunification. Around 60 participants joined the event, having been informed via social networks and physical invitations.

The event began with a welcome video introducing the Peace Road initiative, as guests gathered at the venue. Rachel Van Iersel, serving as MC, opened the program, followed by a prayer led by Pastor Tcheutchoua. After the Cameroonian National Anthem, Dr. Ngo Mahop, a university lecturer and president of a women’s association, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the importance of peace and the need for sustained efforts to achieve it in Cameroon.

Next, Rev. Fongoh Innocent Ndasi, Secretary General of UPF Cameroon, shared the historical background of the Peace Road initiative, focusing on Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon’s lifetime commitment to global peace. Pastor Nchia Kamran provided guidelines on how participants should conduct themselves during the march.

Before setting off, attendees signed a declaration banner to mark their commitment to peace. During the walk, participants handed out flyers, waved flags, and stopped at key locations to offer prayers for the nation. The march ended at the Monument de la Réunification, where group photos were taken and refreshments were provided.

The atmosphere was enthusiastic, with many participants expressing excitement. Several people from the streets spontaneously joined the rally, the event was seen as a success in raising awareness and promoting collective action for peace.

Moving forward, the organizers aim to continue peace education through workshops, conferences, webinars, and gatherings. Social networks and direct communication will be key tools in maintaining contact with participants and inviting them to future events.

The Peace Road Rally in Yaoundé contributed to the goals of Vision 2027 by fostering awareness and encouraging individuals to engage in the mission of building a unified and peaceful world. These efforts aim to inspire more people to participate in activities centered around the ideals of Heavenly Parent.
