Kinshasa, DR Congo – About 150 participants, including senior officials, attended the first session of the UPF National Peace Council.

Following the success of his first-ever African summit in Dakar, Senegal earlier this month, the National Peace Council of the Democratic Republic of the Congo held its first meeting at the Hotel Sultani in the capital Kinshasa on 26 January 2018.

Peace ambassadors, religious leaders, parliamentarians, journalists, traditional chiefs  and young people attended to enliven the opening ceremony. We also noted the participation of UN agencies such as the World Health Organization, UNESCO and Search for Common Ground.

In total, his 70 members of the National Peace Council and more than 80 of his figures from various areas of public life attended the event. The Minister for Youth and New Citizens was one of seven people who received Peace Ambassador certificates during the event.

The National Peace Council was established on 30th September 2017. Aiming to restore the nation, the National Peace Council offers many opportunities to reach out to the highest level authorities in the country.

Seeds sown in Senegal will bear new fruit in all countries. The example of Senegal very inspired us and led us to meet the great politician the Hon. Evaristo Boshab, former Chief of Cabinet of the Head of State, Honorary Deputy Prime Minister of the Interior and a very great professor of constitutional law at numerous universities.
