Promoting Peace and Social Cohesion in Guinea

Conakry, Guinea— In June 2025, Guinea’s Ambassadors for Peace demonstrated their commitment to building a more just, equitable, and peaceful society through a series of impactful activities aimed at strengthening social cohesion and promoting peaceful coexistence.

One key initiative was an awareness day held in the meeting hall of the Kagbelen Urban Commune in Conakry. Organized in collaboration with the Junior Parliamentarians, the event focused on “The Role and Place of Youth in Building a Culture of Peace.” It brought together the Mayor, municipal councilors, and officials from the Ministry of Social Action, Promotion of Women, Childhood, and Vulnerable Persons. Participants discussed practical ways to encourage young people to embrace the values of peace, dialogue, and civic responsibility as essential foundations for Guinea’s future.

In a second highlight of the month, Ambassadors for Peace organized a solemn Day of Prayer for Peace at the Grand Mosque of Kipe in Ratoma Commune. This interreligious gathering united a broad cross-section of Guinean society, including the Third Imam of the Grand Mosque of Guinea-Conakry, a delegation from the Presidency of the Republic, representatives from the General Secretariat for Religious Affairs, and members of the Brave Women of Guinea group. The event underscored the vital role of spiritual leadership and religious cooperation in building lasting peace and fostering mutual respect among all citizens.

Ambassadors for Peace also joined the Youth Unity and Peace Walk organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the Kagbelen Urban Commune. The march was designed to encourage young people to embrace a culture of peace and help preserve social harmony. By participating, the Ambassadors signaled their support for government-led efforts to promote youth engagement as a cornerstone of national unity and reconciliation.

Together, these activities reflect the Ambassadors for Peace’s ongoing mission to create opportunities for dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and cultivate a genuine culture of peace that extends to every corner of Guinean society.
