Conakry, Guinea – The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Guinea-Conakry carried out a series of significant activities during August 2025, marked by technical meetings, civic awareness campaigns, mediation efforts, and acts of solidarity in the face of a national tragedy. These initiatives reflect the unwavering commitment of the Ambassadors for Peace to promote social cohesion, dialogue, and support for vulnerable communities in times of need.

The month began on August 2, 2025, with a major general assembly convened following the African virtual meeting of July 26. Under the leadership of the Secretary General and the UPF Guinea representative, the meeting brought together the majority of the nation’s Ambassadors for Peace. Discussions centered on reporting back from the continental meeting, future perspectives, and various organizational matters. At the close of the session, a technical commission was established to draft UPF Guinea’s strategic framework, prepare terms of reference for an upcoming orientation workshop for Ambassadors for Peace, and formulate a national declaration for the International Day of Peace on September 21.

On August 7, 2025, the commission presented its draft documents, which were subsequently adopted during another general assembly on August 23, 2025. On this occasion, the Ambassadors for Peace also agreed on a fundraising strategy to implement the programmed activities.

In parallel, Ambassadors for Peace actively participated in civic awareness sessions related to the preparations for the constitutional referendum scheduled for September 21, 2025. The Secretary General’s involvement in these sessions highlighted UPF’s recognized role in fostering a peaceful and inclusive atmosphere.

Another major initiative was the mediation process undertaken to resolve a leadership conflict that arose during the installation of the President of the Association of Griots of Guinea. A team of Ambassadors for Peace was assigned to facilitate dialogue between the parties and to help guide the dispute toward a harmonious and lasting resolution.

Tragically, on the night of August 20–21, 2025, Guinea suffered a devastating landslide that engulfed 22 households, claiming 22 lives and leaving many missing. In response, Ambassadors for Peace mobilized quickly to extend their solidarity, providing moral and material support to the affected families and expressing compassion alongside the state during this national tragedy.

Through these initiatives of awareness, mediation, and compassion, UPF Guinea demonstrated throughout August 2025 the relevance of its mission: to build a peaceful, resilient, and united nation through the dedication of its Ambassadors for Peace.
