Monrovia, Liberia — The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) – Liberia Chapter closed the month of June on an inspiring note by celebrating Global Parents’ Day with a transformative one-day workshop in collaboration with the National Association of Social Workers of Liberia (NASW-Liberia).

Held at the Auditorium of the University of Liberia, Capital Hill Campus, the event brought together students and alumni of the social work profession from four universities across Monrovia. With the aim of strengthening professional skills and reinforcing the values of family and community leadership, the workshop focused on empowering participants with practical knowledge and tools for real-world impact.

Throughout the day, participants explored critical themes such as effective organizational performance management, social work ethics, financial best practices, leadership responsibilities, and effective conflict resolution and peacebuilding. The sessions ran from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., led by a team of skilled facilitators who delivered engaging, participant-centered presentations. The interactive format sparked lively discussion and deep reflection among the 53 attendees, who remained actively engaged throughout.

Ambassador Felecia J. W. Dorbor, Interreligious Director and Chaplain of UPF Liberia, served as both chief organizer and Master of Ceremonies, ensuring the event was well-structured and impactful. Her leadership and coordination were widely praised, setting a tone of focus, collaboration, and commitment to shared values.

A highlight of the day was the presentation by the Secretary of the UPF Liberia Chapter on “Effective Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding.” Delivered with passion and insight, the talk invited participants to think critically about strategies for resolving disputes and fostering harmony within their communities.

In honor of Global Parents’ Day, seven families were specially recognized and presented with certificates celebrating their exemplary roles as parents. While some recipients were unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts, associates graciously accepted the certificates on their behalf, ensuring every family’s contribution was properly acknowledged.

The success of this meaningful event was due in large part to the tireless dedication of Ambassador Felecia J. W. Dorbor. Her unwavering commitment to peacebuilding, interfaith dialogue, and youth empowerment continues to serve as an inspiration, uplifting communities and reinforcing UPF’s mission to create a culture of peace in Liberia and beyond.
