YSP launched in DR CONGO

Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo – International Youth Day, celebrated on August 12 each year, was highlighted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2018. Based on the theme "Peace Starts With Me", UPF-DR Congo organized to launch its chapter of Youth and Students for Peace. That event gather over 1200 youth and guests.
Notable attendees included Sir Samy Wetshi as the representative of DRC Youth Ministry. Dr. Florimont Tshioko, Minister of Social Affairs of province of Kasia and Chairman of the National Peace Council; secretary general of UPF-Central Africa Michel Futila, Rev. Jean-Pierre Kadima Mundadi, UPF-DR Congo secretary general. Byzantine Orthodox bishop Henry Kabasubabu and one of the YMCA advisers. Mr. Jimmy Matulu Mwana, President of YMCA/YWCA, Democratic Republic of Congo, representatives of different NGOs, and youth organizations.
The ceremony was opened by Bishop Kabasubabu, followed by the singing of the national anthem by the New Hope Choir. Mr. Mwana was the one who welcome the guests and Mr. Mundadi explain about YSP. Other dignitaries gave congratulatory remarks. The program also had a dance performances, a Tong Il Moo Do martial arts performance, and various kinds of sports and entertainments.
To conclude the event, officials and representatives of youth organizations who attend the event signed the event's banner titled “Resolution and Launch of Youth and Students for Peace/Democratic Republic of the Congo”.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo Youth Ministry and his YMCA were among the supporters of the event.
