UPF São Tomé and Príncipe
How UPF Africa promotes peace in São Tomé and Príncipe
Nation presentation
Situated in the Gulf of Guinea off the coast of Central Africa, São Tomé and Príncipe is a small island nation covering approximately 964 square kilometers, with Portuguese as the official language. The country's economic landscape is marked by agriculture, including cocoa production, which has historically been a key driver of its economy. Rich in biodiversity and natural beauty, São Tomé and Príncipe are increasingly exploring opportunities in eco-tourism as part of their economic diversification efforts. With an emphasis on sustainable development, the government is working to promote sectors such as renewable energy, fisheries, and tourism to reduce dependency on a singular economic pillar. As one of Africa's smaller nations, São Tomé and Príncipe is navigating its path to development with a commitment to diversification, reflecting its resilience and aspiration for a more sustainable and inclusive economic future.
Brief presentation of UPF
Since its founding, UPF has garnered high esteem and national renown, particularly following the Summit and Blessing Festival held on September 5 and 6, 2019. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, which temporarily hindered the development prospects of the country in youth education for responsible leadership and family education, UPF remains committed to addressing these issues. Currently, efforts are underway to address some shortcomings, and there is a growing trust from the population and authorities in UPF, with an expectation that our commitments will be honored. UPF is actively preparing projects for the education of students in the three pilot secondary schools and other social initiatives.
