Aneho, Togo ― On October 18, 2024, a significant Peace Road event took place at the headquarters of the Lacs 1 Commune in Aneho, a border town between Togo and Benin, located 50 kilometers east of Lomé in the Maritime Region of Togo. The event, held under the theme "One Family, One People, One Nation," commenced at 11:22 AM and concluded at 1:34 PM.
This gathering was part of preparations for the CHON WON GUN testimony and ceremony scheduled for April 2025, as well as the establishment of the Association of Mayors, Prefects, and Governors for Peace.
Given the current political and security challenges in Togo, the Ambassadors for Peace expressed their commitment to extending Peace Road activities to sensitive regions across the country. The goal is to promote reconciliation and foster community cohesion in areas deeply affected by division.
The Lacs Prefecture was selected as the first locality outside Lomé due to its historical importance. In 2015, the Peace Road Flag handover took place at the Hillacondji/Sanvee Condji border, symbolizing collaboration between FPU representatives from Benin and Togo, and concluded with a celebration at Independence Square in Lomé.
The event in Aneho highlighted the continuing importance of the Peace Road initiative in uniting communities and promoting harmony across Togo.
